Alya Taufik week 1 module work and reflection
My name is Alya Taufik I am a full time student at the University of Canberra studying Human Resource Management.
In order for me to further my skill set and knowledge base in this adaptive environment and in this modern age I have decided to educate myself within the social media/tech word.
I currently use social media apps such as Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp to update and share my life to family and friends on personal achievements, news and other relevant matter. Instagram and facebook are great apps to share photos, write posts on and are also great apps to source news from. To ensure credibility of these news sources I then use apps such as Google, Safari and Apple News to further investigate or clarify anything I have seen or heard.
I use Snapchat and FaceTime to update and speak to my friends and family on a more personal and face to face basis. Apps like Skype and Zoom are apps I use on a more professional basis to speak face to face with colleagues, tutors and other authoritative associates.
I enjoy using apps such as Tiktok and Youtube for entertainment and sometimes educational purposes. The videos I see on these apps are often tutorials or about trends going on around the world. The trends and news broadcasted on these apps are also viewed by my friends and family as we share similar interests and therefore are exposed to similar algorithms. This makes topics of conversation fun and interesting.
I am able to connect and engage with people all over the world through social media. News, stories, petitions, shopping and so many everyday activities have become limitless through the use and benefits of social media. The way in which the modern society is able to get to and know of anything and everything is a benefit in the sense that day to day living is definitely more convenient however the issue that comes along with this comfort is that people will tend to overshare or leave information that can/may be accessible to those undeserving or unwanted. This can lead to privacy issues and could be detrimental to not only people but businesses and other affairs.
Social Media is a fun and convenient way for people to come together and develop as a society. It has many benefits in terms of growth and adaptation in the current environment society is in now. With the evolving community and culture we face Social Media will have a great impact on the world provided it is used and handled with caution in respects to privacy and personal information.
